Jaqueline & Ben
An Intimate Wedding at Papaya Playa Project, Tulum
How it unfolded.
Jacqueline and Ben got married at Papaya Playa Project in January 2023, in one of those open palapas right at the edge of the Caribbean. Tulum does ceremony well. The jungle behind, the water in front, and the kind of natural architecture that does not need much decoration to feel significant. I spent the day moving quietly through it with them, working close enough to catch what mattered and far enough back to let the day be theirs.
The ceremony happened under the palapa facing the sea, with the sound of the water underneath everything and about forty people gathered around them. Jacqueline came down the aisle and Ben stopped breathing for a second. The dinner that followed stayed in the same palapa, the breeze off the Caribbean keeping the candles honest, the conversation getting longer and slower as the night went on the way it does when nobody is in a hurry to leave. I shot the whole day on digital, working the available light as it shifted from late afternoon through the first hours of the evening.
